Plans are coming along nicely for the memorial service at Dodson Creek Cemetery, Sunday, May 27, 2007 at 2 pm. Donohue Bible, author of "Persia to Piedmont," which chronicles the story of those men who enlisted with the Confederates at Dodson Creek Meeting place, will speak along with Parson James Smith. Re-enactors, dressed in period uniform will perform a 21 gun salute.
It is our hope that descendants of those men who enlisted in the 31st Tennessee Infantry Regiment, Company "D", later called 39th Tennessee Mounted Infantry, will attend this memorial.
The company roster lists names such at Bailey, Ball, Booker, Kite, Everhart, Hord, McLain, Reynolds, and Webster. These are still common names in the community.
Dodson Creek Cemetery is in the Strahl Community of Hawkins County. It is just off OLD Hwy 70 on Webster Valley Road.
